Design
To initiate your garden design, an initial meeting will provide the opportunity for AW & client to meet and discuss your project and its possibilities. The meeting will be charged at the appropriate consultation rate. Following the initial consultation a Design Proposal will be prepared and forwarded for your consideration. Assuming the Design Proposal is accepted, we move to the following stages.
Garden Concept Design
This stage involves a site visit during which a site measure and climate assessment is carried out. A design questionnaire will be delivered to the client to clarify your wants and needs, and facilitate the design process. We will then prepare a Garden Concept Design, supplemented by a planting and materials visual aid.
- The Garden concept design will provide you with a clear layout of the new design, including proposed planting schemes, and structural elements. The scaled drawing will represent the particulars of the garden design, and also allow the client to understand the feel and mood of the proposed garden.
- Planting Visual aid – An appropriate mixture of plants will be selected to suit the climatic conditions of the site, and to complement the style of garden chosen. Images of the proposed plants will be provided along with an explanation of their purpose in the garden.
- Materials Visual Aid – Images and/or samples of proposed hard landscape elements will be provided, along with images of similar structural finishes to help you visualize the finished product.
We will present the concept design to you in the AWLD office, and we welcome feedback and address any questions or queries you have. If necessary we will refine the design, and present the amended version to you.
Council Approval
For certain types of landscape works council approval will be required. The need for council approval will be assessed against all relevant local council guidelines and state government legislation. Items associated with council submission include:

Construction Documentation
